Hi all, it’s Uncle Imad. A lot of my students say the same thing before we even start the car: “I get really nervous when I drive.” I hear it all the time, and honestly, it’s one of my favourite things to help with.

First lesson isn’t about driving fast, it’s about breathing

Before we even move the car, we talk. I want to know exactly what makes you nervous, other traffic, roundabouts, parking, whatever it is for you. Once I know that, I build the lesson around it instead of throwing everything at you at once.

We go at your pace, not my script

Some of you are ready for busy roads in week two. Others need six weeks of quiet streets first. Both are completely fine by me. I don’t rush anyone, because a rushed, anxious driver doesn’t actually learn anything, they just survive the lesson and forget it after.

I remember what you’re working on so you don’t have to worry

Every lesson I keep track of what you struggled with. Next time, we pick up exactly there. That way you’re not starting from scratch every week, you’re just working through one thing until it clicks.

I talk a lot, and that’s on purpose

I share my own stories, crack a joke, ask about your day. It’s not just chat for the sake of it, a relaxed student learns faster than a tense one gripping the wheel like it owes them money.

If nerves are the only thing between you and your licence, get in touch. Book a lesson with me and we’ll take it at your pace, I promise.
